Riesling, Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim 1999

Vignobles Charles Koehly, Alsace, France, Riesling

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says A slight rubbery aroma leads to aromas of wet animal, rubber, and gasoline flavours and a fresh bread finish. This crisp wine with flavours not atypical of aging Riesling is quite complex, clearly developing, and made to last. It`s not a delicious wine but certainly an interesting and well-made riesling.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 82
    Boissonneuse Chablis 2002

Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard, Chablis, Burgundy/Bourgogne, France, Chardonnay

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says A steely style with earth and stones with lemon peel and grapefruit notes dancing on the palate. Crisp. Classic.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 80

Riesling, Les Princes Abbes 2000

Domaines Schlumberger, Alsace, France, Riesling

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Again, this leading producer shines. Aromas of lime and butterscotch lead to a palate of lime, butter, minerals and a lovely orange zest character. Beautiful stuff. Dry, crisp, but with excellent concentration, body and length. Worth every penny.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 91
    Vision 2002

Vina Cono Sur, Casablanca Valley, Aconcagua, Chile, Chardonnay

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Almost off-dry with 4.5 grams of sugar. Round. Elegant. Wonderful wine if you like the flavours of crème brulee.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 90

Pinot Gris 2006

Domaine Allimant-Laugner, Alsace, France, Pinot Gris

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says An outstanding version of Alsacian Pinot Gris, this intense wine laden with aromas and flavours of spiced peaches is tightly-knit and built to last. You could lay it down and let it improve for 10 years or get a serious pleasure dose now by uncorking it and serving it with Fettucine Alfredo with sautéed chicken and garlic. It’s rich, full of fruit, and finishes bone dry.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 92
    Vintner`s Reserve Chardonnay

Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, California, USA, Chardonnay

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Apparently, this is the biggest selling premium wine in the US. The wine is soft and round in the mouth with flavours of sweet pineapple and oranges. Full-bodied cocktail-style and food-friendly wine.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 85

Riesling Steinmassel 2002

Weingut Brundlemayer, Kamptal, Austria, Riesling

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Apple and mineral nose with bright lime and orange flavours, some tropical fruit and nuttiness. Very good concentration. Balanced with refreshing acidity. Complex, elegant, robust.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 89
    Yellow Tail Verdelho 2003

Casella Estate, Riverina, New South Wales, Australia, Verdelho

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Apricot and peach flavours aromas and flavours. Crisp with a hint of mineral.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 74

Riesling 2002

Cave du Roi Dagobert, Alsace, France, Riesling

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Aromas of flint and aroma exude from this off-dry wine. And in the mouth, crisp lime and earthy mineral flavours mingle. Clean.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 78
Riesling, Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim 1998

Cave du Roi Dagobert, Alsace, France, Riesling

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Aromas of flowers and honey exude from this aging Riesling and the palate is crisp, dry and fruity with flavours of lime and petrol. Good length and good aging potential.
