Cotes de Provence 2004

Roland Bouchacourt, Provence, France,

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says At under $8 CAN, this is a good buy. Think refreshing but restrained flavours of strawberry and lemon. Drunk young and chilled, this wine is straight forward, unpretentious, and easy to like. Much like a puppy.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 88
2003 Vin Ruspo Rosato di Carmignano 2003

Tenuta di Capezzana, Carmignano, Tuscany, Italy, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Attractive dark pink colour in the glass. Then, after fresh plum aromas and flavours of unripe berries and apples, this wine becomes quite hot in the mouth from the high alcohol content. Not a well-balanced wine.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 70

Gran Feudo 2003

Bodegas J. Chivite, Navarra, Spain,

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Fresh strawberries, McIntosh apple, and fresh bread aromas lead to a delicious palate of ripe summer berries. This is a crowd-pleasing afternoon-in-the-sunshine drink to have chilled with a plate of Chorizo sausage or other tapas. Best drunk as young as possible. LCBO price $10.95

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 87
    2003 `R` Rosato IGT 2003

Alpha Zeta, Veneto, Italy, Corvina, Rondinella

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Perfumed nose of roses and strawberries create intrigue the palate, which tastes flavours of roses, red apples, and bread spread with a thin layer of strawberry jam. An easy wine to enjoy chilled on a summer day.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 86

Bin 35 Rose 2003

Lindemans, New South Wales, Australia, Shiraz

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Strawberry and peach are present on the nose and palate but the wine lacks the acidity and concentration to lift it above average.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 76
    Preference 2003

Caves St. Pierre Maison Bouachon, Tavel, Rhône, France, Shiraz

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Strawberry and raspberry aromas lead to flavours of fresh bread, strawberries and lemon zest on the palate. Crisp and youthful. Drink young in the summer, chilled.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 77

Côtes de Provence Cru Classe Rose 2002

Domaine de Rimauresq, Côtes de Provence, Provence, France, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Mourvèdre

Carolyn Evans-Hammond says Youthful aromas of peaches lead to flavours of white pepper and blackcurrant. This is a bone dry and very crisp rose from Provence best drunk young.

Carolyn Evans-Hammond's Score 72
