Wine Scoring

The legend below captures the guidelines followed for the wine scoring on this website.

<70 = Below average quality
71-80 = Average quality
81-90 = Good quality
91-100 = Excellent quality

This scoring system addresses a wine's quality, explained with tasting notes. Quality judges the wine's technical composition and tasting notes provide a description.

The price, if noted, does not factor into the scoring. Whether the wine offers good value is up to you, the wine drinker.

For example, a wine that scores 86 is a good quality wine. If the tasting notes appeal to you and it costs $10, you may think it's very good value. On the other hand, if the same wine costs $30, you may or may not think it's good value depending on how much money you generally like to spend on wine.

The scoring system is based on a generally accepted industry standard whereby wines are scored in a system of 50-100 points. All wines receive 50 points, regardless of quality, simply by virtue of them being pressed, fermented grape juice. From there, they are judged, scored, and offered to you. I hope this system helps guide you toward many pleasurable moments.
